Over the past five editions, from 2018-2023, the exhibition attracted nearly 700 companies and welcomed over 19.534 trade visitors from Vietnam and abroad. For the coming years a further growth is expected.

The market

Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in the ASEAN region and is a huge emerging market with a population of 100 million. Vietnam has been securing socio-political stability and is known to be one of the most dynamic economies worldwide. Since 1991 the economic growth has averaged a stunning 7.5% each year. Vietnam is among nine nations in the world with the fastest growing middle-class in the coming decade. By 2030 Vietnam is expected to add 36 million people to its middle class.

The horticulture and floriculture sector have been growing rapidly over the past years.
The sector is expected to continue to grow, due to strong exports, free trade agreements with various partners (including the EU) and an increasing domestic demand. Increased exports and rising prosperity drive the demand for safer and higher-quality products. In addition, the Vietnamese government is committed to develop high-tech agriculture.

Vietnam is already exporting horticultural products to more than 60 countries worldwide.

The sector is moving away from traditional open field production to protected cultivation. Several developments include greenhouse technology, increased digitalization, precision and automatic irrigation, computerized crop management systems, better flower and vegetable varieties (hybrid and post-harvest technology).

Although the number of companies active in the high-tech market in Vietnam is relatively limited, the new generation of growers is more likely to invest in long-term modern greenhouses and equipment.

Da Lat, in the Lam Dong province, remains the main horticultural production area of Vietnam. the greenhouse production area has grown from around 3,000 hectares in 2007 to currently more than 6,500 hectares, of which 40% are used for flowers. This growth happened mainly during the last 10 years and the area continues to grow, the total area of greenhouse vegetable and flower production in Vietnam is now almost the same as the Netherlands: 8,283 hectare in 2021.
